This letter is a paraphrase of a song. Do you know what the title is and who sings it?
Dear Sir
I’m writing this letter to invite you to accompany me as I go for my morning walk. I’d appreciate it if we could talk honestly on equal terms about some problems which are bothering me. I’m interested in hearing your opinion on the issue of homeless people and I was wondering if you could possibly help them further or if you consider you are already doing enough for them. I’d like you to look straight at me and tell me that you rest easy at night knowing that there are so many people who experience difficult situations which have no solution. Sir, perhaps you felt loneliness as a child and you can relate to those who suffer hardship and are less fortunate than us, knowing that we cannot all achieve our dreams. Perhaps you would consider the plight of those daughters who feel shunned by their own fathers who, on account of their daughters’ homosexuality, turn down their rights. I would also like to know your wife’s thoughts on these matters. Allow me to convey to you how difficult it is for ordinary people to rebuild their lives when their homes have been blown up by bombs, or to bring up their children on a low wage, not to mention to survive on the streets using cardboard boxes as a bed. After writing this letter, I realise that my wish is impossible – you would never lower yourself to come and talk to me.
Yours faithfully,
