TTS – TEXT TO SPEECH – PRONUNCIATION HELP

SPEAKING GIF

Many of you have difficulty with English pronunciation. It isn’t just the individual words, but the rhythm and intonation of the English language, which is so different from Spanish.

The following website is a Text To Speech tool. Just type a short text, like this paragraph, choose a voice and listen.  I recommend Rachel’s or Graham’s voice.  But you can try all the British English voices.

The speech you hear is not perfect, but it will help you. Maximum text length is 300 characters.

NI-2 ROXETTE – SHE’S GOT THE LOOK

1. LOOK AT  THE LYRICS ON YOUR PHOTOCOPY AND DIVIDE THEM ACCORDING TO THE BEATS OF THE MUSIC. UNDERLINE THE SYLLABLES THAT FALL ON THE BEAT (see example):

Walking like a man
Hitting like a hammer… etc

2. THEN TRY SAYING THE SONG WITH THE CORRECT RHYTHM.

3. NOW SING ALONG WITH ROXETTE!

Walking like a man
Hitting like a hammer
She’s a juvenile scam
Never was a quitter
Tasty like a raindrop
She’s got the look

Heavenly bound
Cause heaven’s got a number
When she’s spinning me around
Kissing is a color
Her loving is a wild dog
She’s got the look

She’s got the look (She’s got the look) She’s got the look (She’s got the look)
What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue
When everything I’ll ever do I’ll do for you
And I go la la la la la she’s got the look

Fire in the ice
Naked to the t-bone
Is a lover’s disguise
Banging on the head drum
Shaking like a mad bull
She’s got the look

Swaying to the band
Moving like a hammer
She’s a miracle man
Loving is the ocean
Kissing is the wet sand
She’s got the look

She’s got the look (She’s got the look) She’s got the look (She’s got the look)
What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue
When everything I’ll ever do I’ll do for you
And I go la la la la la she’s got the look

Walking like a man
Hitting like a hammer
She’s a juvenile scam
Never was a quitter
Tasty like a raindrop
She’s got the look

She goes (na na na na na na)
She’s got the look

She’s got the look (She’s got the look) She’s got the look (She’s got the look)
What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue
When everything I’ll ever do I’ll do for you
And I go la la la la la she’s got the look

What in the world can make you so blue
When everything I’ll ever do I’ll do for you
And I go la la la la la (na na na na na na)
She’s got the look
She goes (na na na na na na)
She’s got the look, she’s got the look
She goes (na na na na na na)
She’s got the look, she’s got the look
She goes (na na na na na na)

ALFIE – Lily Allen

NOTICE LILY’S ACCENT. SHE DOESN’T SING IN A FALSE AMERICAN ACCENT LIKE SO MANY BRITISH SINGERS. HER ACCENT IS TYPICALLY “ESTUARY ENGLISH” or “COCKNEY”. SHE HARDLY PRONOUNCES HER “t’s”, FOR INSTANCE. THIS IS VERY TYPICAL FEATURE OF BOTH ACCENTS.

NOTES ON ESTUARY ENGLISH        NOTES ON COCKNEY SPEECH
